Ed McCarthy Allen

 
Ed was born and raised in Chicago and developed his first interest in art roaming the galleries of the Art Institute as a young boy. He currently makes his home in Castle Rock, Colorado where he and his wife have resided for the past ten years. Self-taught, his first attempts at creating art began with a decision to try his hand at sculpture. But, but over time, following an academic career as teacher and university administrator, he turned his focus to painting.

His professional career took him to live and work in diverse locations throughout the U.S and in Europe for a number of years. Travels and experiences in those places provide inspiration and are reflected in his choice of subjects.
