problems joining the forum

Hi All,

Do any of our moderators know if there is currently any problem for a new person trying to join the forum, and whether or not we are officially still open to new members? Over the past year two people have emailed me, saying they tried to register themselves and were unsuccessful. I've referred them to Rob and Phil.

I'm wondering still, since occasionally I like to recommend the forum for people with questions about the medium.
