This is a miniature painting I recently completed (although only 1/3 scale instead of 1/6th scale) of a floribunda species of rose called "Heaven on Earth", painted on Kelmscott vellum, a type of vellum I particularly enjoy using for egg temperas in miniature. (It is shown here at it's actual size.) Mona

Wow, that's exquisite. I love the contrast between the velvety crush of petals and the waxy leaves; you can almost smell the rose.

Very nice, Mona. As a egg tempera painter, I know how much work went into that tiny painting. What are the actual dimensions?
Thanks for sharing it with us. Phil |

Alessandra and Phil, thanks. The actual dimensions of the live art are 2 3/8" x 2 7/8".

Forgot to add some context: this was painted from a photo I took of a rose bush that I planted in my garden in memory of my Dad. It was the second rose that grew on the bush, which didn't survive the following winter, so I am glad to have captured this image in paint.
