Default Creating Bodies of Water

I am about to start a new painting that has a fairly large body of water (Atlantic Ocean). Most of my work is aviation related - in this work I have two aircraft in the foreground and flying over an island surrounded by water on the east coast. I am usual quite confident when I paint most subject mater, but this is my first ocean in ET and from an aerial view. Does any one have any good techniques on how to create rough bodies of water. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
