Default Introduction

Hello everyone. I finally gathered up the courage to join this forum. I am studying the Byzantine painting system and need to learn how to paint with egg tempera. I have never tried. I currently have watercolor and acrylic painting supplies and I thought to master those before I move on to egg tempera. I have been told that egg tempera is like watercolor, but more difficult then acrylic because it dries immediately. I figured it was a good idea to come on board as an observer while I am preparing to start painting in egg tempera. One of the challenges I have already encountered is that egg tempera supplies are not available in my county, there are no books on egg tempera technique in the library or the art supply stores.

Hi photo theology,
Welcome to our forums, no courage needed as everyone here are so friendly and will share their experiences.
Egg tempera is egg tempera.........not like oil, acrylic or does have it's own foibles!! That's why we are here........
There are many suppliers that will ship out supplies to anywhere in the world.
Perhaps have a look at the various listed suppliers on the main web site......
You can always post messages for further advice as you slowly progress.
Good luck
