Hello, I have several wood framed acrylic boards in various sizes, some
painted. I want to remove the paint (kept lifting!) If I sanded them lightly with fine paper and applied the rabbit skin gesso would that work? The frames are beautifully hand made.
Thank you,

I have done that 15 years ago and paintings are perfect. Just be sure that your glue in the gesso is neither too strong or too weak, as usual.

Even though Rosemary has had success doing this, I would caution against it. Acrylic primer is not compatible with glue-chalk gesso. Just because it works in one environment does not mean it is a good idea.

There is a test to discover whether my panels are acrylic or rabbit gesso.
however I can't find the info. Seems as if applying rabbitskin gesso is like baking bread...depends on the weather?
thanks again.
