Hers's my first egg tempera painting. It's on gessoed paper about 4" x 4"
Titled "Between Me and the River" The painting was done over a silverpoint drawing made at the site.

I'm working on a second egg tempera painting. I'm doing this one on a Clayboard panel, it's 5" x 7".

I don't know if I'll finish it - I'm not enjoying working on the clayboard.
Both of these pieces were made with egg tempera in tubes.

I made a few gessoed panels and purchased some dry pigments - I'm gonna get serious on the next one!

Bill, these are nice. I especially like the first. The tender colors of your palette appeal to me. I think of spring and new growth.

The second looks unfinished, as you said. I hope you will complete it. I guess you'll do something about that blue egg shape under the tree.
I think you'll like working on gesso panels with the dry pigments.

Thanks for the reply Jean. Yes I was going for the tender colors of spring and new growth, but with Old Man River flowing on none-the-less.

For your other comment "I guess you'll do something about that blue egg shape under the tree." - I feel like Groucho Marx or something -
That's not a blue egg shape - that's my wife!

But you're right - it's a blue egg shape! - The awe inspiring atmosphere, texture and size of an old growth rain forest balanced with the exuberance of someone you love in the midst of it all - is something I'm just not getting across! - I'll either work this piece to death or start over!

Bill, sorry. But, it (she) doesn't come across to this viewer. You can work on this though, and I surely hope you will.

hi Bill

I did see that the "blue egg shape" was someone ;)
but I think that maybe charcters are not what interrest you most and thus it is not necessary to have one in your painting...

I especially like the tittle of the first painting!
