In Greece we have allot of ET artist [most are in the orthodox Icon trade], and the majority are non PC users.

So I thought I would post some art on their behalf to show you the level of work. I hope this will be informative. visually at least, sorry if the pictures are not of good quality.

Michalis Makroulakis b. 1940 ET are on gesso wood panels and are small the majority either 30x24 or 40x30cm

another two ET paintings by Michalis Makroulakis who was a very good friend of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi (1919-80), king of Iran (1941-1979), and lived in Teheran for 8 years, under his invitation, I guess this is what one would consider as one of the the past kings Painter . enjoy!

another 2 paintings, notice the smooth water/egg loaded broad brush slightly tinted ochre/black in the background, this builds a set mood and offers a new ground over the gesso to build up layers, once its been set to dry for a couple of weeks, he goes into the detail drawing, then developes very thin line hatching, he uses a large magnifying glass to complete the fine detail, you can not see brush strokes with the naked eye!

Dimitris

Do you know if these are traditional egg tempera or egg/oil emulsion? They seem very painterly for traditional egg tempera?

he does mention that he calls it "galaktoma avgou" translated from greeklish to english as the "milk of egg"

I too have the feeling he puts something in the egg, I will call him, see if he will give me an idea, to his inner secrets!

but he always puts his work behind glass :!:

Thank you for the wonderful postings. It is great to see some contemporary art coming out of the classic tradition. These paintings are amazing. I would have suspected mixed technique, just from the smooth blends. What craftsmanship.

This artist is really amazing Dimitris, thank you for sharing. I do have my doubts if it is just pure egg tempera, looks more like tempera grassa.
