I am not placing one particular painting here for a critique, but I would enjoy (I think :-) ) having any of my work critiqued that is currently in a one- person exhibition at Gallery 78. It can be viewed at www.gallery78.com Thanks, David

Nice work  I do especially like "the empty skiff" - I do less apprciate the pink skies, but thats a question of taste - You obviously master the technique

David,
I have to second the pink sky sentiment .... on my monitor anyways. Love your tree work and outdoorsyness of it all. It reminds me alot of growing up in New England, and what I loved about it.
You sure live in a beautiful place.
Warmly,
Eric in Oceanside

David,
My favorite is "Morning Smoke", though "Empty Skiff" is right up there!
Nice atmospheric effects overall. I have to be honest, I actually like the watercolor version of the girl leaning against the door (can't remember the title) better than the ET version. The ET looks a little flat, though that may be an internet viewing problem.
Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!
Phil

David, thanks for sharing your beautiful work with the forum. Your reverence of nature comes across in your art. My favorite of your ETs is "The Empty Skiff" followed by "Morning Smoke". And of your watercolors I enjoy looking at your orchard series.

As for the pink skies in some of your pieces, I like rosy skies. You must also. My suggestion would be to soften the color (alot).

Congratulations on the success of your show!!

Hi David,

I particularly enjoyed "Morning Smoke" and "Back Door to the Shed". The sense of design elements and negative/positive space are so fine in each of these. "Morning Smoke" evokes lots of atmosphere and mood and time of day. You are very good at capturing specific details about your environment. It reminds me of how I keep taking photos of the Brooklyn skyline view out my rear window in my NYC apartment at various times of day, like sunrise; in different weather; after new buildings have changed the horizon, etc. Have not yet painted what I see out there, but I may eventually use these personal views in my paintings too. Thanks for the inspiration about this.
