I finally have time for more ET work

This is the first 2 pieces of what will be 5 pieces, 6" x 6", thanks for taking a peek. I always think I want to paint loose in any medium I try, my work often times ends up a little tighter than I want, even though it is considered painterly by many. I think that ET forces me to be more tight even though I like some of the beginning steps as-is. Does anyone have any links to people that are working in a "loose fashion" suggesting details rather than overly rendering? Anyway here are the pieces. Rich

I see what you mean by ET forcing you to be precise...

maybe you could try add a little more water while painting... use bigger brushes?? or give a try to egg/oil emulsions ;)

Try softening the shadow in the lemon piece. Hard lines come forward, soft lines will recede forcing the lemon to be the subject and not the shadow. I really like the tube of paint but in the shadow use cool colours, not the warm brown you have used, it will make them recede just as you did with the lemon but use soft edges.
Remember, warm advances, hard sharp lines advance.
Once again, I have admiration for you who submit your work for a grilling!!!!! Keep it up and continue enjoying the process.

Hi Rob and thanks for the tips.

I have 3 more pieces I just finished. I won't be able to work in tempera for about a month I have pinned myself down to paint in oil for that time, but I am anxious to get back to ET.
