OK... I know silence is gold, but I'm not sure of how I should understand this one:

1. "I just don't like it :)"

2. "The picture (photo) is of such poor quality that I can't make any valuable comment"

3. "This is egg/oil emulsion and I only comment pure ET"

I could put this into a poll, for my own personnal info, but I'm not sure it would get enough answers to be representative...

They look very cool especially the top one -- they do look more like oils than egg tempera tho, which may be an issue for some people.

It does look like the photo is giving a blueish color cast...

Hi Sabine,

I love the composition of the first one (woman and child). It captures a moment beautifully and is powerful. The lighting is tricky with the window behind them, but you handled it very well.

What is missing for me in these is the complexity of multiple layering which is what really makes ET shine. Your paintings are lovely, but they look more like watercolor or guache than ET. (Perhaps this is a consequence of viewing over the internet rather than from real life...).

Anyway, they are very nice the way they are. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I understand this is not typical ET... and it's true that I like to use it in a watercolor kind of way... and I do have a problem with my digital camera which is just not good enough...

But I don't know how to convince you that tempera grassa is really very different from oil painting... I feel if I talk to oil painters, they won't be able to help me at all... I fond so many valuable informations on this site that I couldn't find anywhere else...

They look nice. I'd love to see the actual surfaces -- not over my computer monitor.
One thing jumps a bit strongly for me on the painting of the boy in the blue shirt. Perhaps it's exaggerated in the photo, but the dark blue shadows seem too harsh in comparison to your handling of the light-and-shadow contrasts in the rest of the work. I like their brushy quality. However, since they are the darkest and most intense color areas in the painting, they grab the strongest attention and overpower the more subtle gradiations in the head and face. Perhaps, you may not want to lighten the shadows. Instead, you could consider darkening the lighter areas of the shirt.

I have a little granddaughter so I am drawn to the painting of the baby. I can just feel the roundness and softness. I also like the composition. In the painting of the boy, I feel that one side of his face looks closer and larger than it would in real life. My guess is that it was done from a photograph that has exagerated the perspective.

Don't thank me for sharing my work, I thank you for commenting it ;) - painting alone all day long I just don't "really" see it after a while, I need fresh eyes!!

David, the boy was painted after a photograph, yes, but if there is a deformation of the face I'm probably the one responsible for that! though my son DOES have quite round cheeks ;)

Jean, I think I understand your question, but I'm not sure - the shoulder of the right arme doesn't appear to be in the right position according to the movement of the arm? Well... that's true!! I hadn't seen it... and have no explanation... (but it will be hidden by the frame I think!!)
