Reiner

Originally from Denmark, Reiner has lived and exhibited in England and Switzerland before coming to the US. She presently lives in San Francisco where she paints and teaches art privately. Her passionate interest in the techniques of the old masters led her to the study of egg-tempera. It came as a natural alternative to oils, her primary medium that she uses much like the Dutch renaissance painters. She enjoys the purity and directness of egg tempera, the fact that she can continue painting without the drying time and the method of 'glazing' with very thin layers of paint, much like the way she uses oils. Her interest lies in the mystery, ambiguity and depth of her subject matter. The paintings are done on wood panels prepared with traditional chalk gesso.

Reiner's work is shown in galleries in the Bay Area and is collected in Europe and the US.
