Kimberly Roush

Kimberly Roush (b. 1956, Philadelphia, PA / resides; Park City, UT) began working in egg tempera because a chemical injury causing Multiple Chemical Sensitivity prevented her use of any of the other mediums.

Egg tempera's tendency to linear, repetitive layers functions the opposite of Kim's preference for direct, painterly methods. Kim experimented quite a bit with egg tempera on watercolor paper, several clay coated papers and boards, and museum board. She prefers painterly, floating methods of using egg tempera on gessoed panel.

Kim studied figure painting in oil but her pure love and fascination with birds is her primary focus. Her work has been accepted into Birds in Art. "Killdeer" was purchased by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.

Kim is currently transitioning to using watercolor with some glazes of egg tempera; sometimes tempering the watercolor and sometimes glazing with pure egg tempera. She prefers white egg tempera to chinese or gouache white.
